Packet of Phoenix Pink Scour Trim Tablets. For treatment of bacterial enteritis in calves, sheep and goats.

Action:
The triple sulphonamide/trimethoprim combination acts by interfering with the biosynthesis of microbial folic acids by competitive inhibition.

 

Indication:
Treatment of bacterial enteritis in calves, sheep and goats.

 

Contraindication:
Impaired renal function. Not for use in bobby calves.

 

Toxicity/Overdose/Antidote:

DOSAGE: For oral administration to calves, sheep and goats. Give an initial loading dose of one 3.25g tablet/35kg b.w, then a maintenance dose of half a 3.25g tablet/35kg b.w. at 12 hour intervals. Treatment for 2-3 days is normally sufficient but in some protracted cases (e.g. secondary infections) it may be necessary to extend the period of dosing. Do not continue treatment for longer than 7 days. Give fluid replacement therapy if dehydration is present. Ensure adequate drinking water is available to animals during treatment.

 

Special Precautions:
May cause skin and eye irritation. Repeated exposure may cause skin allergy. Sulphapyridine may possibly cause damage to genetic material. May possibly affect many organs. Avoid skin and eye contact. Handle the product with care to avoid oral exposure. Keep out of reach of children.

 

Withholding Times:
It is an offence for users of this product to cause residues exceeding the relevant Maximum Residue Limits of Agricultural Compounds (MRL) in the New Zealand Food Standards.

 

MILK: Milk intended for sale for human consumption must be discarded during treatment and for 35 days following the last treatment.

 

MEAT: Animals producing meat or offal for human consumption must not be sold for slaughter either during treatment or within 21 days of the last treatment. Not for use in bobby calves. Do not use in animals with impaired renal function.

 

Human First Aid, Symptoms Of Poisoning:
If skin or hair contact occurs, remove the contaminated clothing and flush skin and hair with running water. If splashed in eyes, wash out immediately with water. Remove contact lenses, if present and easy to do, and continue rinsing. For advice, contact the National Poisons Centre (0800 POISON or 0800 764 766) or a doctor immediately.

Store at room temperature (25°C). Protect from light.
