Xylazine base 50mg/mL in a sterile solution for injection.
Xylazine is an alpha-2 adrenergic agonist.
A non-narcotic sedative, analgesic and muscle relaxant for use in horses, cattle and deer.
Shock, cardiac incompetence, severe respiratory depression, late pregnancy.
10x normal dose could be fatal if untreated.
DEER: Use yohimbine injection i/v.
|Horses||1.2–2.0mL/100kg b.w. i/v (slow)|
|Deer||1.2–2.0mL/100kg b.w. i/m|
|Cattle||0.1–0.6mL/100kg b.w. i/m|
Give the injection into the anterior half of the neck in food-producing animals.
Anxiety, salivation, tremors, vomiting.
Keep out of reach of children. Avoid contact with the eyes.
MEAT: Animals producing meat and offal for human consumption must not be sold for slaughter either during or within 3 days of the last treatment.
MILK: Cattle Nil.
Human First Aid, Symptoms Of Poisoning:
If swallowed, DO NOT induce vomiting. For advice, contact a doctor or the National Poisons Centre (0800 POISON or 0800 764 766) immediately. If skin contact occurs, remove contaminated clothing and wash skin thoroughly. The antidote is yohimbine injection i/v.
Store below 25°C. Protect from light.
