Tylosin (as tartrate) 200mg/mL in a clear, yellow to orange solution for injection.
Tylosin is an antibiotic substance of the macrolide group. It has a low toxicity and is particularly active against Gram+ve bacteria and mycoplasmas. It is also active against some Gram-ve bacteria, and certain strains of spirochaetes. It is concentrated in lung tissue at significantly higher levels than are found in serum and is rapidly excreted, principally via the bile.
Treatment of lung infections, especially mycoplasmosis and other infections such as pneumo-enteritis, metritis, mastitis, foot-rot, swine dysentery, arthritis, erysipelas caused by sensitive bacteria in cattle, swine, sheep and goats.
Do not inject more than 10mL of the solution at any one site.
LD50 (oral) mouse 5000mg/kg.
10mg/kg b.w (5mL/100kg b.w). Dose by deep i/m injection, once daily for 3–5 days. Larger doses must be divided with a maximum of 10mL being injected at any one site.
Local swelling at the injection site may occur. Erythema, oedema of the rectal mucosa, anal protrusion and diarrhoea may be observed in pigs and cattle.
The prophylactic and therapeutic use of this product should only be for the minimum period needed to meet the clinical objective. Indiscriminate use of this product could contribute to antibiotic resistance. Should only be used after consideration of the alternative therapeutic and preventative measures.
Cattle: Milk intended for sale for human consumption must be discarded during treatment and for not less than 72 hours (6 milkings) following the last treatment.
Sheep and Goats: Milk intended for sale for human consumption must be discarded during treatment and for not less than 35 days following the last treatment.
MEAT: Animals producing meat and offal for human consumption must not be sold for slaughter either during treatment or within 21 days of the last treatment.
Store in cool conditions (10–15°C). Protect from light.
